Which Apps are Taking up Most of the Storage on Your iPhone

If you own any kind of iPhone, then you know that it has limited storage space on it. If your iPhone is suddenly running out of space, then first you need to check what apps or other items are using up all the space. Here is how to see what is taking up space on your iPhone:

1. Click onto the Settings app on the Home screen of your iPhone.
2. Click onto “General”.
3. Click onto “Usage”.
4. First you will see the storage section of your iPhone. This could take several minutes to load depending on what is on your iPhone.
5. Then, click onto anything on the list to see how much space it is taking up on your iPhone. This way you know which items take up the most space and can decide what to remove.

Here is a list of the types of files that take up the most space on the iPhone:

1. Photos and Videos

Photo and video files, especially the latter, can be huge! This is especially true if they are HD file. An HD video can take up about 78MB for every minute of the video. So, after you upload a video from your iPhone to your computer, be sure to delete it so as to free up space.

The same goes for your photo files. As soon as you take them, get them off your iPhone and store them on a SD card or just post them online. You don’t need to waste storage on the phone to keep your photos.

2. Music

Music files also take up a lot of space, with about three MB per MP3 file. It’s better to download some kind of streaming program like Spotify because it takes up less space than actual music files and then you have access to 1000s of music titles you can play.

3. Apps

While most apps don't require very much space, if you have lots of them on your iPhone, they too can take up lots of space. For instance, Angry Birds takes up about 20MBs. You can delete these apps by going to Settings, then Applications, and then “Manage my Apps” and click onto the one you one to delete to free up space.

4. Clear Your Phone Cache

The cache on an iPhone also uses up a lot of space. Be sure to check it regularly to see if there are extra bits of data you can delete to free up space.

All in all you need to periodically check your iPhone to see what data you no longer need or what apps or programs you don’t need. This way you can free up space on your iPhone on a regular basis and don’t have to worry about running out of room. You can also get SD cards and store extra files on them to get more space allotment for your iPhone so you don’t have to delete everything.
