How to Fix Screen Brightness Issues After iOS 26 Update?

After updating to iOS 26, some iPhone users have reported screen brightness problems. Common issues include the screen appearing too dark, too dim, or flickering, especially when Auto-Brightness is turned on. Others have noticed white screen effects or inconsistent brightness after completing the update.

Since iOS 26 introduces new display technologies like Liquid Glass Display, some brightness issues may be related to updated screen settings. Here are several methods to fix or adjust your iPhone’s screen brightness after the iOS 26 update.

1. Restart Your iPhone

Restarting your device can clear system cache and fix minor system glitches. Go to Settings -> General -> Shut Down, then drag the slider to turn off your iPhone.

After a few seconds, press and hold the Side or Sleep/Wake button (depending on your model) until you see the Apple logo.

2. Disable Auto-Brightness

If your screen is dimming automatically, the Auto-Brightness feature might be the cause. Go to Settings -> Accessibility -> Display & Text Size -> Auto-Brightness, and turn it off. (Note: This setting is not found under Settings -> Display & Brightness.)

3. Turn Off Reduce White Point

If you’re seeing a white or flickering screen, the Reduce White Point option could be affecting your display brightness.

Go to Settings -> Accessibility -> Display & Text Size -> Reduce White Point, and toggle it off

4. Adjust Liquid Glass Transparency

Some users reported that the new Liquid Glass feature can make the display appear dim or washed out. Try reducing transparency:

Go to SettingsAccessibilityDisplay & Text SizeReduce Transparency, and turn it on to improve contrast and brightness.

5. Reset All iPhone Settings

If none of the above works, you can reset your settings without erasing data. Go to Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset -> Reset All Settings.

6. Update to the Latest iOS Version

Apple often releases follow-up updates to fix system bugs. Go to Settings -> General -> Software Update, check for updates, and install the latest version (for example, iOS 26.0.1).
